What is Public Memory?

Well, sixty days ago, there were protests demanding the axing of Ganguly from the Indian Cricket team over his slackening performance. Somehow, he was dropped and luckily for him, he regained his form and thanks to some aggresive Kolkata protestors including Abhijit Das, Mr Arani Bakshi and one particular Khullar (whose mother was a Chatterjee) whose article I read in the newspaper, he was back in the team. He scored a measly 40 &39, but was dropped. His Kolkata freak fans saw that it was better than what Gambhir scored (who regained his spot in Ahmedabad, while Ganguly was dropped), and they aroused a sympathy waves in the country stronger than the relief efforts for last years' tsunami. Well he's back now in his team though his roller coaster ride is far from over. Who knows what path the 'great public opinion' will take over the next few months. Meanwhile I can just say, Congrats Abhijit and Mr Bakshi and the (possibly?) distant relative of Mr Cooler.

Tejas's Theory as to what Happened to the Dinosaurs

Well, now as you might (or might not) know, a giant asteroid hit the Earth (near Mexico) about 65 million years ago and that directly as well as indirectly brought about an end to the dinosaurs' reign. Well, this theory is merely a fragment of teh author's unstable mind and has no scientific basis except that it seems logical to the author.

Now as the asteroid struck the earth with force equivalent to many thousand times the power of the Hiroshima Nagasaki bombings, I believe a large explosion must have took place instantly wiping clean hundreds of kilometers around the epicenter. You can only imagine the amount of dust that might have been released into the atmosphere on an explosion such as this.

These dust particles being very enormous in number must have taken months to settle back down. This must have blocked the rays of the sun from reaching the earth. A direct consequence of this must have been a fall in temperatures across the globe, maybe to an extent of about ten to twenty degrees celsius.

We all know that dinosaurs were essentially reptiles and thus cold-blooded. The sudden drop in the temperaturemust have had effect in the internal systems of the dinosaurs to an unimaginable extent. Even now, in our city, in winters we see that common wall lizards seem to totally disappear due to their cold blooded Reptile nature and inability to adapt to change in temperature beyond the optimum levels. This is bound to have had an immense advense effect on the health of the dinosaurs, who slowly but surely had walked down to deep upon teh road of extinction to be saved. Ever.

This theory also explains how quite a few species survived this incident and helped in maintaining life on the planet. This principle is the same as the principle according to which man has survived two ice ages and has the ability to survive the next one too. Being warm-blooded the ancestors of today's mammals, though being pushed to their limits, survived by ADAPTING to the situation until the conditions improved. I would like to thank them today for hanging on and making this post possible. I am sure Abhijit would also like to thank his Great-Great-Great-(add in a few million greats)-Grandparents who were giraffes for his height. So would Rijul like to thank his Great-Great-(a few million greats)-Grand Parents who were Elephants.

Tejas's Law of Want

Wonder how many times you say "I want..." in a day.
Stop wondering, find out.

I have finally devised a method to get it:-

P=NX+Base

Where X=B-A

Suppose A is what you have today.
You strike a jackpot and have B the next day.
Thus there is an increase of X in the day or your jackpot is worth X.
P is the amount you WANT of the commodity which has been measured as A,B and X.
P is directly proportional to X
The constant of proportionality is N.
But strangely enough, N is not a constant at all. It is rather equal to X. However N is not equal to X in case X is not an integer. Then the value of N is equal to 10X (if the decimal is equal to tenths place), 100X (if the decimal is to the hundreth place and so on..)
Base is the minimum amount of commodity on which addition is to take place. It is usually equal to either 0 or A.
Therefore in other words,

P=Xsq. (if X is an integer)
P=NX (if X is a fraction)

Practical Example,

Bonsi Kukreja owns a company
He buys the companies of Raja Doss and Cooler Jee.
Therefore A= 1 company
B= 3 "
X= 2 "
P= NX = Xsq. = 2X2 = 4 companies
According to human nature he will say I wish I could buy four more companies.

Excercise.

Q1. Rijul eats 2 burgers on Monday. He eats five burgers on Tuesday. How many will he want on Wednesday?(Base=0)

Q2. Nipun gets 94.8% in the assesment and 95.0% in the Half-Yearlies. How much will he desire in the pre-boards?(Base=A)

Q3. Tejas earns $2000 in 2004, $5000 in 2005, how much will he want in 2006?(Base=0)

Q4. Ishaan wins three quizzes in 2004, seven quizzes in 2005. How many quizzes will he want to win 2006, if there are only twelve quizzes held in the year?(Base=0)

Q5. Anant weighs 75kg in October, 72kg in November. How much weight will he desire to have by the ned of December?(Base=A)
